The Hand Burger

The Hand Burger is at basement one of Raffles City Shopping Center, next to The Soup Spoon, they are both opened by the same company. We went Tuesday, 1 Sept'09, their 2nd day of business.

From the outside, it looked like a barren Ikea store, all planks and mirrors with cutouts in the wood. It appeared very cold but very clean.

Facing the menu, we decided to go for the house burger and the pulled pork burger. To start with, we had the Lemonade Mint and the Lychee Mint. The lychee version was sweeter but the lemonade version's good for a really hot day.

All mains are accompanied by either fries or a chilled stuffed tomato. He took the tomato with house burger and I the fries with the pork.

The drinks and burgers arrived promptly, considering we we the only ones there just before lunch time. The food looked great, until we bit into it...

The house burger's patty was powdery, and tasteless. Powdery, that was a first for me with a hamburger... More than half of it was left behind despite trying to mask the lack of taste with the fries. When all hope was shifted to the chilled tomato, it was not any better.

The smoke of the pulled pork was overpowering, didn't taste the pork at all, but it was still more palatable than the house burger. The star of the meal was the fries, I like that the skin was left on them. Another good thing is that the portions are generous, but it will be even better if the food was good enough to finish the bigger portions.

oh well, it was their second day of business, and I think the place has potential though my butt feels that seat cushions will be nice too.

Coincidentally, a friend had gone on the same day for lunch, his tandoori burger looked way better than it tasted. But the fries were still good.

If you have been there, let me know what you think of it? Hopefully your experience will be more positive. :)
