Chesty Nutty Bang Bang

It was Chesty Nutty Bang Bang last night at the Drama Centre, 3rd floor of the NLB. It was a side-ripping parody of everything funny and not so funny made even funnier!

The Hairspray of the Pheonix was fun! How they depicted the magic wand battle was smart and super-funny. I need to go watch Hairspray! Travolta in drag never looked better :-)

Plus the play on High School Musical sharing the same stage with the crowded 20th anniversary of Beauty World was full of imagination! 2.2 million is very expensive leh!

The best was 88251! What happens when a famous sex star meets getai? Hokkien versions of the latest chart stopping songs with our national tunes! I haven't ROFL since the Dollies at a stage play.

The spoofs on our well-loved Ribena ads were witty, so were the Mylow and Old Chang Kee sponsorship bits. They also brought back 'Sir Ian McKellen' as Gandalf AND Magneto. It was laugh-out funny the first time I saw it years ago at Jubilee Hall, and it's still hahaha!

My favorite Pondan News left me in tears again... though I think the pole-dancing could have been way more seductive!

Super big kumxia to Jonathan Lim - the main chestnut, the head nut, the chief chest for all these great years!

Get your tickets NOW! They run only to the 3rd of February 2008! Enjoy!

TQ's beanie

This is my first finished adult beanie, it was made for Tammy, out of machine washable yarn. Using the same pattern from the Pink Baby Hat, with a slight adjustment. After the rows with the ascending stitches, every 2 rows of double crochets were alternated with a row of single crochets. I felt that this helped the hat keep its shape better, at least until my stitches get more uniform. hahaha...

Plus, the edging (instead of the picot), was shell shaped. Kumxia craftmastery for the really useful and easy tutorial! Instead of skipping 2 stitches though, cos it's right along the edge, I'd skipped only one stitch, I felt that it helped the shells/fans to curve a little more. If you're using the stitch on more than 1 row, I think you should stick to skipping the 2 stitches. :-)

Enjoy the beanie and thank you for letting me make one for you... who wants a beanie?

Picotin again...

Picotin
100 Turfclub Road, Singapore 287992
Tel: 6877 1191

Last night we went to Picotin for the 2nd time, our 1st visit back in December last year was good, so we were hoping to repeat the experience with Shan's birthday.

We were thrilled that the huge chalk board was now populated with numerous yummy temptations! It made choosing what to have harder than before.

Do try:

- the onion soup (specials board) and the lobster bisque (menu)

- the little local oysters which went for S$1.30 each were surprisingly good, fresh out of the sea. and it was a small manageable size for those who don't relish palm sized oysters.

- venison stew (on the specials board), had to take my friend's word for it, it was yummy. but the beet root side was too much for her.

- the rack of lamb (specials board) got a thumbs up from my foodie friend. crisp on the outside, and oozing with rich goodness on the inside.

- the fellabella pizza that came with the 'little ponies' (kid's meal) was good. the pizza's here are reliable.

Don't need to try:

- the lamb shoulder / tagine  (in the main menu) was gamey, it's good for those who enjoy gamey lamb, but not for me.

- the king prawn pasta (on the specials board) was chewy, like it had sat out a little too long. the prawns were generous but we couldn't get past half the serving.

First time:

There is a Bundaberg Rum and Bundaberg Brewed Drinks, the former is obviously rum, and the latter does root beer, ginger beer and the like, so don't get the 2 of them confused! I ordered a Bundaberg ginger beer or root beer, I got a Bundaberg rum and ginger beer cos that was what Sebastian thought I'd meant! It was the first time for us both, I guess you do learn something new everyday. :-)

Note:

There are smoking tables immediately to the left side of the main stand, please don't sit near these glass tops tables if you no don't enjoy inhaling cigarette smoke through your meal.

Take a quick glance over the bill before you toss in your credit card... just in case...

Kumxia Picotin for another good evening.

That's it! Rank #49

That is it. I have done it, and I am done.

At 8pm (+8 GMT), Sunday 6th January 2008, I reached Rank #49 with $89,721,176. The objective was to reach the top 100, and one of my 2008 resolutions was to remove the application. Enough is enough.

2700 fights per day, fought only banks and friends who didn't care :-) Need to use the time on better exploits. :-) Thank you Amazon Women and thank the many many great banks in Fighter's Club.

For those who aren't sure what this is all about, Fighter's Club is an application in Facebook with over 40,000 daily users (lately). :-)

Happy 2008!

It is 2008. We have made it into another year.

I want to thank all my family and friends who have made the last year, and all the years before that worth living, and for making the years ahead of me worth looking forward to.

I want to thank Fata for starting me up onb   again. For buying the first black and yellow Giant to the latest red and black Specialized. For putting up with me when I want to play princess or when I feel like I want to be an Empress! hahaha... :-) Plus worrying for him is one of my favorite hobbies! What would I do without him...

Thank you my Peng-Peng who is a great yi-yi, although sometimes she doesn't think so. :-)

Kumxia Tua Tao and to Guan for being great friends for almost 20 years.

Grateful for Pea San and her adopted parents for being so-cool friends.

Super appreciative to the scuba diving gang, the cycling kakis and the former-frisbee people. You have all helped to keep me fit and healthy while having tons of fun!

And my families: Fata's family, my mom's family and my dad's family... they have seen me grow up, go through phases, and get out of them. And they still love me just the same. :-)

Plus, all the people at work who have me in their faces at least 10 hours a day, 5 and a half days a week, you guys have made work something worth doing.

Thank you thank you thank you everybody!
:-) Happy 2008!
