Think of the money

Things don't often work out the way I want them to but when your career hits a detour, what do I do? Think of the money and the bills that need to be paid. I'm destined to work for every penny I have but when ten months ago that really bad feeling changing jobs should have given me some indication of what kind of company this is.... Think of the money!

So Cute new Susan Pendant from Swarovski!

Wasted Time

It's interesting how you can read in magazines and newspapers the monetary value of time spent at work doing non-work stuff. Saw a giant figure for the value of time wasted by employees watching the Olympics at work. I wonder if there is a number out there for the time wasted waiting for an extremely slow work computer to do anything???

Such a waste of time...

Chopsticks 2012/43+44

Published with Blogger-droid v2.0.6

How could this happen?

To start, I took a pay cut and lost 18 days of annual leave to work for this decades-old, award-winning big-name company. By the time I started work I was told that the position for which I was hired had shriveled up cos that function is staying at headquarters.
Then I was offered a different department which I accepted as a challenge.  Little did I know the biggest challenge would be to work daily with a very loud and rude individual. About 6 months later an opportunity presented itself to transfer to another department with a way nicer person to work with.
So for 2.5 months I have been covering both departments until a new person transfers to take over the earlier department. Then this week, this new department made 13 artists redundant, and is losing 2 of its 4 production team members.
The reason I was given for being 'loaned out' to a non-production role was because management could not appear to target the new transfers so they picked me over the new transfer. Now why the other 2 at ny level were not selected I can only guess, and these are not kind guesses.
This company has lied and manipulated so many people it's a wonder how it's over three decades old.
If only the people in charge will get their act together, and make their centuries of experience mean something more than the mismanagement of over 100 lives maybe this project will have a hope of completion?
*** all this transpired 14 August 2012.

Scape Goat

This person just hung us out as the scapegoat for this unfortunate event. What the heck! And we are working to help alleviate the negative effects of yesterday's announcement while being the symbolic whipping dog...

This is all feeling so so wrong.

These do no mean the same thing!

From the http://singapore.dinerenblanc.info/ page:
World-renown champagne-maker Perrier-Jouët has also joined in the revelry to offer 2 complimentary historic flutes for every bottle purchased by diners online at a special price (so special, it cannot be revealed!). Diners can get to choose from a selection of 2 red wines and 2 white wines by Wyndham Estate and Graffigna (exclusively offered by Pernod Ricard - the world's co-leader in wines and spirits).

From the http://marketing-interactive.com/news/34493 page:
Playing its part as an event partner, Perrier-Jouët will be offering two historic flutes for every bottle purchased by diners online, allowing them to choose from a selection of two bottles of red wine and two white by Wyndham Estate and Graffigna.

Diner en Blanc Singapore

At the last minute, the location is given to thousands of friends and acquaintances who have been patiently waiting to learn the “Dîner en Blanc's” secret place. Thousand of people, dressed all in white, and conducting themselves with the greatest decorum, elegance, and etiquette, all meet for a mass “chic picnic” in a public space. Over the course of an evening, the diners enhance the function and value of their city's public space by participating in the unexpected. Beyond the spectacle and refined elegance of the dinner itself, guests are brought together from diverse backgrounds by a love of beauty and good taste. Le Dîner en Blanc recalls the elegance and glamour of court society, and diners engage one another knowing they are taking part in a truly magical event.
