MH - revised Vanilla Stilton recipe

Good thing I read the latest News update on the 'Change to Balack's Cove' last night! Found out that there was going to be a change in the Vanilla Stilton recipe. And it was going to happen last night!

The change was to the Vanilla Stilton + Magic Essence recipe. Initially, it was 1xV.Bean + 15xM.Essence in place of 15xV.Beans, BUT now you'll need 5 Magic Essence instead of that 1. This new Magic Essence recipe is less attractive, so I converted all the V.Beans I had!

Thank goodness I caught my Balack in the first 4 days! Before all this happened... :P

Sunk My Heart

I haven't had this 'sinking heart' feeling for a long time, I think it is good that I haven't felt like this for a long time :)

But just now at work, my colleague said that we should make it a habit to interact with our clients... that was when my heart sank. I have tried many many many many many times to be sociable and mingle, but after almost everything I do so, there's inevitably that 'heavy heart' after.

Plus, it leaves me exhausted... :(

Oh well... such is life...

Dud!

I have a unique ability, I am capable of of picking the dud in almost any menu!

Regardless of the type of food, the type of restaurant or the type of menu, I somewhere manage to find the worst that a place can offer, 4 times out of 5. It's either this, or I'm the only one at a 6-person table who's order gets forgotten...

The cherry on top of it all was a recent trip to Koi, a Taiwan bubble tea franchise in Singapore. I walked up to the menu and single-handed picked the worst drink they had. Neither me or Fata enjoyed it. Even Fata's interns unanimously agreed that my choice was the worst... :(

My only safe haven is a place which has nothing bad on their menu, but trust me, there aren't many places like that. Save me...

MH - Balack is Back - Pt.2

15 x Vanilla Stilton = *15 x Vanilla Beans, 15 x salt, 15 x c&w, 15 x coconut milk.
*the 15 x Vanilla Beans can be replaced with 1 x Van. Bean & 15 x Magic Essence, this works :)

Maiden voyage to Balack's Cove was at lunch time :P Got both the Elub Lich and Derr Lich this afternoon after a brief 'wash out' :P I read that Balack's Cove is like the Forbidden Grove, it'll open and close through the day, but I managed to get back in within 25 mins.

Now I just need the Nerg Lich & the formula for the 'vengeful' cheese to go after Balack himself!

MH - Balack is Back - Pt.1

There was an upgrade last evening and Balack is back! hahaha...

Based in the 'news' I headed to Dracano to collect the 3 Dragon Embers and crafted the Balack Map with the Antique Lantern bought from Cape Clawed.

These are my 3 Dragon Ember catches using IceMaiden/Magma/Inferno :

Then is was off to the Jungle of Dread this morning with Clock/Magma/Gouda to collect Vanilla Beans needed for crafting Vanilla Stilton cheese... This was my 1st Vanilla Bean loot:

1 May 2010, Saturday, KL -> SG.

Fata & I swapped breakfast venues. I went for the hotel buffet while Fata watched TV sleepily in bed...

We checked out at noon, drove around to look for yummy food with the GPS but ended up at a collection of stalls by the side of the road. And lucky for us, of the 3 stalls at that street corner, 1 had yummy curry noodles, the other had yummy minced meat noodles. Plus, a push-cart was selling yummy rojak!

Drove out of KL, skipped Klang and Melaka 'cos the exits were holding up traffic! We stopped over at Yong Peng for fishball noodles and bit of crystal peanut shopping before heading home.

30 April 2010, Friday, KL.

Fata had the hotel's breakfast, while I lined up at the Toast Box at Pavilion.

A RM10 cab ride took us to Chinatown, where we walked about in the super hot sun. Brunch was at a 2-storey restaurant which had lots of local, so we thought that the place should have some good food. But we were wrong, the (supposedly popular) black fried noodles were tasteless, and the accompanying battered and deep fried pork belly (which will give chicken friend bacon a run for its money) was heart-stoppingly scary.

A train ride took us to KLCC, where we found ourselves in the midst of the lunch crowd. Faced with long lines everywhere worth eating at, we walked around more. Lunch was at Mdm Kwan's, pricey but good. The mid-afternoon was spent watching The Losers.

We tried to walk towards the Aqua-place just outside the mall, but we didn't find the RM35 worth our while, so we decided to give it a miss this time. An short cab ride back to the hotel, showed us that we were just 2 streets apart.

Dinner was at Overseas Restaurant at Jalan Imbi, a very short cab ride around the corner from the hotel. Yummy everything! A slow stroll back to a quick break back at the hotel, we headed out again in search of No Black Tie Jazz Club.

The lady at the front was very concerned about the RM40 cover charge that didn't include any free drink. She also wanted us to know that Yudi... Yudi... Yudi will be performing Shanghai Jazz... Shanghai Jazz... Only when Fata said not to worry about the charges did she relax a little and give us a table. :P

One set later and we were 'shanghai-ed', off for supper! After street side crispy oyster omlette, we met EF, King T and friends at Papa Rich for supper.

29 April 2010, Thursday, KL.

Fata left early for breakfast and his conference. So took my time to get up, take a long shower, pack up a little and stroll out to Pavilion, just opposite my hotel, at about 9:30am looking for breakfast.

The Toast Box at Pavilion's basement had a line about 10 people long, I was too hungry to wait, so I wandered back up to The Loaf on the 3rd floor. The bakery which Fata said looked quite pretty from the outside.

Armed with a pair of plastic tongs and a cardboard tray/basket, I picked a savory and an sweet pastry and headed for the cashier. Before the man behind the counter could take my coffee order, a little cockroach, about 1.5cm long, crawled up the opposite edge of the counter (behind the cashier) and waved hello... Eeeks...

The man at the cashier just showed a little displeasure as he squished it with a bit of tissue, then he proceeded to take my order and my money.

Nonetheless, i sat down at a little table with my coffee and hopefully roach-free buns to try and enjoy what I selected. A Loaf staff member at that time took the coffee machine, bean handle thing with filter to the dustbin to wipe them out with some paper. The metal filter fell into the bin, that same staff member fished it out, wiped it over and proceeded to use the apparatus.

Okay... this is the first and last time I'll ever go to The Loaf... ever...

Kumxia EF and King T for collecting me from the hotel and depositing EF and I at the Mid Valley Mega Mall. Some shopping was done at the factory outlet store followed by some ice-cream.

Fata took the trains to meet us at Mid Valley, then we headed out for EF's favorite fish soup. Very yummy! King T went back to work, while the 3 of us were left to soak up the best window shopping available.

Dinner was back at El Cerdo, with 4 of us we had more food! The same half a piglet, a large platter of jamon & yummy paella. Too much food later, we spent the rest of the evening watching TV in bed :P

Kumxia EF and King T for keeping us company today :)
