20-hour weekend getaway

I love how marketing and reality can sometimes be so far apart.

We got a lovely gift from my aunt, a romantic weekend getaway on Sentosa with a buffet breakfast. But the check-in time was 4pm on Saturday and check-out was noon on Sunday. A 2-hour getaway.

The place we were at looked really nice on the internet, but when we got there the best part about the place was the staff. I heard that their website boasted a 93m swimming pool, but the only way we could get that length was with the pool's perimeter! hahaha...

Right from reception, we had to pass a small room being constructed on the stair landing, outside our room. There was plaster, newspapers lining the carpeting, tools all around the area... quite a mess...

Then, there were problems trying to set up the internet in our room to work. We called the front desk which promptly sent someone over with a cable. That cable didn't work, so we called front desk again, 15 minutes later no help, called the front desk again.

A repair/maintenance guy came and tried all sorts of things to get the internet to work, including yanking out a piece of wood paneling over the cable/sockets to change wiring in the wall... another little mess... in the end even trying in another room, the internet didn't work.

The areas so small, they can seriously consider using wi-fi? :P

The grounds were quite pretty, but small. The finishing on our room was sad, the paint in the corners were messy, you could still see the white wash underneath.

A highlight was a nice restaurant our friend had recommended. But will not drive all the way there for it.

Next day, we work up to paint fumes. The construction outside our room. Really NOT a nice way to wake up on a Sunday morning. :/

The breakfast spread was limited. I had to snigger when a chef appeared at 2 separate occasions with a frying pan in hand, and pouring the pan's contents directly into the serving trays and stirring... right in front of guests. oh dear...

Ok, we checked out after breakfast and I will not recommend this resort to anyone. You can contact me using the comments if you are interested in finding out which one it is.

Anyway, kumxia sincerely for the thoughtful gift. There was plenty of hot water and the air-conditioning worked well. :)

funny, no? we stayed there about 2 years ago when the hotel just opened, and breakfast was served campsite style, on the roof deck, with makeshift tables, toaster oven, etc...looks like 2 years on things have not changed much...
