1 May 2010, Saturday, KL -> SG.

Fata & I swapped breakfast venues. I went for the hotel buffet while Fata watched TV sleepily in bed...

We checked out at noon, drove around to look for yummy food with the GPS but ended up at a collection of stalls by the side of the road. And lucky for us, of the 3 stalls at that street corner, 1 had yummy curry noodles, the other had yummy minced meat noodles. Plus, a push-cart was selling yummy rojak!

Drove out of KL, skipped Klang and Melaka 'cos the exits were holding up traffic! We stopped over at Yong Peng for fishball noodles and bit of crystal peanut shopping before heading home.

30 April 2010, Friday, KL.

Fata had the hotel's breakfast, while I lined up at the Toast Box at Pavilion.

A RM10 cab ride took us to Chinatown, where we walked about in the super hot sun. Brunch was at a 2-storey restaurant which had lots of local, so we thought that the place should have some good food. But we were wrong, the (supposedly popular) black fried noodles were tasteless, and the accompanying battered and deep fried pork belly (which will give chicken friend bacon a run for its money) was heart-stoppingly scary.

A train ride took us to KLCC, where we found ourselves in the midst of the lunch crowd. Faced with long lines everywhere worth eating at, we walked around more. Lunch was at Mdm Kwan's, pricey but good. The mid-afternoon was spent watching The Losers.

We tried to walk towards the Aqua-place just outside the mall, but we didn't find the RM35 worth our while, so we decided to give it a miss this time. An short cab ride back to the hotel, showed us that we were just 2 streets apart.

Dinner was at Overseas Restaurant at Jalan Imbi, a very short cab ride around the corner from the hotel. Yummy everything! A slow stroll back to a quick break back at the hotel, we headed out again in search of No Black Tie Jazz Club.

The lady at the front was very concerned about the RM40 cover charge that didn't include any free drink. She also wanted us to know that Yudi... Yudi... Yudi will be performing Shanghai Jazz... Shanghai Jazz... Only when Fata said not to worry about the charges did she relax a little and give us a table. :P

One set later and we were 'shanghai-ed', off for supper! After street side crispy oyster omlette, we met EF, King T and friends at Papa Rich for supper.

29 April 2010, Thursday, KL.

Fata left early for breakfast and his conference. So took my time to get up, take a long shower, pack up a little and stroll out to Pavilion, just opposite my hotel, at about 9:30am looking for breakfast.

The Toast Box at Pavilion's basement had a line about 10 people long, I was too hungry to wait, so I wandered back up to The Loaf on the 3rd floor. The bakery which Fata said looked quite pretty from the outside.

Armed with a pair of plastic tongs and a cardboard tray/basket, I picked a savory and an sweet pastry and headed for the cashier. Before the man behind the counter could take my coffee order, a little cockroach, about 1.5cm long, crawled up the opposite edge of the counter (behind the cashier) and waved hello... Eeeks...

The man at the cashier just showed a little displeasure as he squished it with a bit of tissue, then he proceeded to take my order and my money.

Nonetheless, i sat down at a little table with my coffee and hopefully roach-free buns to try and enjoy what I selected. A Loaf staff member at that time took the coffee machine, bean handle thing with filter to the dustbin to wipe them out with some paper. The metal filter fell into the bin, that same staff member fished it out, wiped it over and proceeded to use the apparatus.

Okay... this is the first and last time I'll ever go to The Loaf... ever...

Kumxia EF and King T for collecting me from the hotel and depositing EF and I at the Mid Valley Mega Mall. Some shopping was done at the factory outlet store followed by some ice-cream.

Fata took the trains to meet us at Mid Valley, then we headed out for EF's favorite fish soup. Very yummy! King T went back to work, while the 3 of us were left to soak up the best window shopping available.

Dinner was back at El Cerdo, with 4 of us we had more food! The same half a piglet, a large platter of jamon & yummy paella. Too much food later, we spent the rest of the evening watching TV in bed :P

Kumxia EF and King T for keeping us company today :)

28 April 2010, Wednesday, SG -> KL

Haven't been out of the country since last November. It felt good taking the passport out again for a ride today :)

We drove from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in the middle of the afternoon. It was a good and uneventful drive. But when we got into the city, we went around a few circles before we found the driveway to the hotel. Thank you the lender of the GPS, otherwise we'd be super lost!

Good thing we are staying smack opposite the shopping mall called Pavilion. Good air-conditioning :P

Dinner was at a recommended place, El Cerado for their suckling piglet. We had a half piglet for 2, it was served with 4 slices of potato dumpling, a savoury gravy & some green leaves.

The piglet had was cut in a special way, the pretty lady showed us how. Take a plate, hit the wooden cutting board 3 times and slice the piggy, across the neck, chest and behind. Then wish for love or money and break that plate in a wooden bucket. Smash!

I personally feel that the food was good, but it was all more hype and novelty than the quality of the food. I prefer the porchetta at San Francisco's Farmers' Market. Oh well, it's at Cangkat Bukit Bintang, so try it out and let me know what you think of it? :)

Kumxia Fata for driving all the way and for being able to attend the conference at the nice hotel...
