A New Loo Experience
I have heard from many iPhone users that game apps have revolutionized the loo experience. Gone are the newspapers and the magazines, Angry Birds have taken over.

By the way, rain has broken over Formula BMW Pacific's practice run. Will this year's race be the world's first wet night street race?

People Charm
Kumxia the friend who gave me this. She said that it's meant to ward off negative people and attract positive people. But it hasn't been working well lately.

An Uncomfortable Edit
Last week Fata and I watched an episode of a show which we have seen for 7 seasons, 10 if you count the spin-offs. At the end of that episode, I had an uncomfortable feeling, like there was something wrong with the show… like the edit just wasn't right… something felt 'off'…
The next day, on the way to work, there was a spirited exchange while I tried to explain to Fata that discomfort about the previous evening's episode. I couldn't verbalize what it was exactly that caused the uneasiness.
Was it because there was no scene that established the talents' arrival at a different location? There were always the gratuitous in the airplane and at the baggage carousel scenes an the earlier seasons.
Was it because there was not enough explanation of where they were at or going? Or the pacing wasn't as exciting as before? The dialogue wasn't as tense/witty/engaging? There was definitely a problem with the chronology, there was a location where one of the talent was seen wearing a glove on her left hand, but the explanation for the left glove happened only three-quarters into the segment.
But to no avail, Fata didn't get it, so I had to leave it at that.
Almost a week later, a chat with a colleague revealed that he had the same discomfort with that episode and the episode after that. He even said that there were strange shot sizes used in the edit. He figures there must have been a different editor on these episodes cos the 'feeling just wasn't right'.
Yippee! Someone who knows what I mean! :P Kumxia!

An easy dud?
It was a relaxing Thursday evening at Overeasy. The walk from work left me glisteningly warm, a glance through the menu yielded an IBC Root Beer Float, the very thing to settle me into the great view.
When the drink arrived, it was small. It was in a glass that's way too small for an ice cream float. At this point, I could only attribute it to the fact that I have that great talent at picking duds.
Oh well… the first mouthful of chilly root beer mixed with strands of melting vanilla ice cream was just what I had thought it would be. When I picked up the spoon to poke at the ball of vanilla iciness to better homogenize the taste, there was an unfamiliar thud at the base of the glass.
Through the murky goodness, there was a serrated edge of something familiar… more digging around produced a bottle cap.
Showed the 'prize' to our waiter who hurriedly apologized with an excuse that it was a busy night. The manager came after our insistence, and he had the same mouthful. It was beer for the rest of the night for me!
So beware! Over busy evenings at Overeasy, at the Fullerton, could get you more than you pay for, good or bad.

Defining WHATEVER!
Whatever - a highly functional word for reacting to most things negative, unhappy, resigned...
A word I've used a lot since I was 10 years old, not so much in recent years 'cos age and experience has showed me other ways of handling and showing that unthrilling feeling.
Just a few weeks ago, an event led me to define the word. Or rather re-define the events that will lead to this reponse.
Like Fata had said, you were put in line to wait for the meteorite of happiness, you miss it without you even knowing it had passed, then there's a barrage of reasons why you were deliberately not included. Do I concentrate on 'as long as they are happy'? No, it's just 'whatever'.
Not the most favorable reaction, but it's upset me how the event played out, how we were informed that we've missed the bus - too bad!... If we were told earlier how it was meant to play out, maybe I wouldn't be so disappointed? Or is it the pages of 'this is the way it is' that gets to me.
As long as they are happy, you say? I say, whatever!
